Rule Knowledgebase

Summary

An error occurred in the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Search (SharePointPSSearch) service. The plug-in manager cannot be initialized, and the content index is not loaded.

Causes
This rule does not contain any causes.
Resolutions

To resolve this issue execute the following steps:

Look in the Application event log for related events and information. The Application event log can be viewed through the Event Viewer snap-in which can be found in the Computer Management console. The following task will start the Computer Management console:

Start Computer Management Console

Address any issues in the event log that are responsible for this failure.

If necessary restart Microsoft SQL Server and/or the Search service. The service can be stopped and restarted using the following tasks:

Stop Search Service

Start Search Service

Once the service is restarted, Reset the content index.

If the plug-in manager is from a third party, ensure that it is registered. If the problem persists, contact the third-party vendor.
