An error occurred in the Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server Search (SharePointPSSearch) service. The gatherer files cannot be saved.
To resolve this issue execute the following steps:
Ensure that you have sufficient free hard disk space. To review the current free space utilization on the computer, start the following view:
Start Disk Capacity View
If necessary Increase the amount of free hard disk space.
Ensure that you have sufficient system resources for this operation, and close any unnecessary programs. To review the current memory utilization on the computer start, the following view:
Start Memory Utilization (Physical) View
Ensure that the logon credentials for the Search service are valid and current. The account for the administration service can be viewed though the Service snap-in which can be found in the Computer Management console. The following task will start the Computer Management console:
Start Computer Management Console
If the issue persists, restart the SharePointPSSearch service. The service can be stopped and restarted using the following tasks:
Stop Search Service
Start Search Service
If the issue still persists, your physical hard drive may need to be replaced.
