Summary

An error occurred while synchronizing the SharePoint Portal Alert (SPSALERT) service with the settings for the configuration database for the server farm.

Causes
This rule does not contain any causes.
Resolutions

To resolve this issue execute the following steps:

Verify that the local computer can connect to the configuration database. Next verify that the SPSALERT service can be stopped and started manually. This can be done using the following tasks:

Ensure that the logon account for the SharePoint Portal Administration (SPSAdmin) service is a member of the local Administrators group or the Power Users group. The account for the administration service can be viewed though the Service snap-in which can be found in the Computer Management console. The following task will start the Computer Management console:

To check to see if the account is a member of the Administrators group or the Power Users group execute the following tasks:

Start Local Administrator Query

Start Local Power User Query

Look in the Application event log for related events. The Application event log can be viewed through the Event Viewer snap-in which can be found in the Computer Management console. The following task will start the Computer Management console:
