DFS Namespace Class

  • ID:  Microsoft.Windows.DfsNamespace
  • Description:  A DFS namespace enables you to group shared folders that are located on different servers into one or more logically structured namespaces. A DFS namespace consists of a namespace root and the namespace servers that host the root. Below the root are DFS folders (links), which are virtual folders that point to shared folders referred to as folder targets (link targets).

This object monitors the state of a namespace as represented in the namespace’s metadata, and maps the state to the namespace’s entity in Operations Manager. This object monitors the state of a DFS folder (link) as represented in the namespace’s metadata, and maps the state to the folder’s entity in Operations Manager. This object monitors the initialization of namespace roots and creates an alert if a namespace root doesn’t initialize properly. This object monitors a namespace for the presence of a large number of errors. This object displays the health state of namespace servers, as found in the namespace metadata during discovery. This object monitors the state of synchronization between a namespace server and Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS). This object monitors operations that move DFS folders (links) from one location in a namespace to another. This object monitors the removal of DFS folders (links). This object monitors the ability of a namespace server to access namespace data in Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) and creates an alert if the namespace server cannot access AD DS. A DFS namespace enables you to group shared folders that are located on different servers into one or more logically structured namespaces. A DFS namespace consists of a namespace root and the namespace servers that host the root. Below the root are DFS folders (links), which are virtual folders that point to shared folders referred to as folder targets (link targets). A DFS folder (link) is a virtual folder (reparse point) that lies below the namespace root and maps to one or more folder targets (link targets). Namespace servers (root targets) are servers that host a DFS namespace.
