Summary

This monitor detects Windows backup failure on the Microsoft Business Intelligence Appliance.

Causes

An unhealthy state is caused by a backup utility failure. This could indicate one of the following problems:

  • Backup volume (E:) is out of available space

  • Backup utility has been executed not from Self-Service BI web console

  • Backup volume (E:) is removed

Resolutions

Check that the backup volume E: exists and has enough space to perform appliance onboard backup job. This job causes the content of drives C:, D: and hidden volume “System” to backup volume. If volume E: is removed you should disable this monitor.

If backup volume E: exists and its size is enough to save content of C:, D: and hidden volume “System” drives than review the failure cause in the alert description to diagnose the failure reason. Fix it and try to start appliance backup job again.
