Summary

The Dynamic Access Control filter driver updates the file classification properties of files. When this filter driver is not available, file classification properties used for file security will not be current.

Causes

The Dynamic Access Control filter driver is not available. File classification properties used for file security may not be updating correctly.

Resolutions

Start the Dynamic Access Control filter driver.

You must be a member of the Administrators security group to start the Dynamic Access Control filter driver.

To load the Dynamic Access Control filter driver (cbafilt):

1. On the Start screen, type cmd.exe.

2. Right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as Administrator.

3. Type fltmc attach cbafilt <volume>: where volume is the drive letter of the volume. For example: fltmc attach cbafilt c:. Then press Enter.

To start the Dynamic Access Control filter driver (cbafilt):

1. On the Start screen, type cmd.exe.

2. Right-click cmd.exe, and then click Run as Administrator.

3. Type net start cbafilt, and then press Enter.

Verification

To verify that the Dynamic Access Control driver is attached and running, review the output of the net start command.
