The Fax service can fail to initialize because of a failure to initialize Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) devices. This can be caused by a hardware or software configuration issue. The Fax server might fail to start if there is a lack of system resources or if the service fails to initialize. The Fax service might need to be restarted if it was stopped manually, if it had an initialization error, or if it is denied system resources by another application. Fax Service Status The incoming fax cannot be received. Verify that fax queue folder exists and it has write permissions for the Network Service account under which the Fax Service runs. In certain conditions, incoming faxes are not received and must be resent. An error was encountered while receiving a fax. Please check the activity log for further details of this event. The Fax service cannot send a fax if the transmission is interrupted. A fax may not be successfully submitting if the fax modem is configured incorrectly or permissions are incorrectly set on the MSFax folder. Verify the server is on and that the Fax service is running and resend the fax. The fax transmission failed. Confirm the fax line number you are sending the fax to, update the number, if needed, and then resend the fax. You can limit the number of recipients allowed for a fax. If your users send faxes that exceed that limit, the fax will not be sent. If a fax transmission fails, and the maximum number of retries has not been reached, the Fax service will attempt to resend the fax. Check that faxes are being archived to the correct folder and have the correct settings and permissions. If needed, update the settings and permissions. The Fax service must have sufficient resources and the ability to read and write to the registry. If the number of faxes that you have in the archive exceeds the maximum quota limit that you have set, faxes will no longer be archived. The Fax service will generate a warning first, and then stop archiving when the limit is exceeded. The Fax Service cannot route incoming faxes to fax printers. Incoming faxes can only be routed to actual printer devices. The Fax Service failed to initialize a routing module. Please contact your routing extension vendor. Unable to route a fax to the requested e-mail address. An incoming fax cannot be routed. Verify the specified folder exists, the incoming routing method exists and it has write permissions for the Network Service account under which the Fax Service runs. A Fax Routing Extension encountered a problem and needed to close. A successfully received fax was not routed automatically or the Fax Service failed to execute a specific routing method.
